On Friday, October 25, 2002 we lost one of the great voices for peace and justice. US Senator Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, daughter Marcia and five others died in a plane crash in Northern Minnesota. Paul was a vocal defender of all people. He spent tireless hours working hard for people in Minnesota. He was a rare politician who never stuck his finger in the breeze to decide what was good public policy. Sheila is best known as an advocate for victims of domestic violence.
We will miss you both!
We visited the Wellstone! Senatorial campaign headquarters on Sunday, October 28, 2002. In an unassuming location on University Ave. in St. Paul, Paul's campaign headquarters became an impromptu memorial. Minnesotans shared their grief and came to pay their respect and say "Thanks" to Paul and Sheila for all they have done.
